As a mental health counselor, I currently have over 15 years of experience working with individuals and families struggling with mental illness and substance abuse challenges. My goal has always been to help coach and guide clients into defining their personal goals and strengths in life so they can be used as a roadmap to help overcome various obstacles. My years of working in mental health and substance abuse counseling have not only allowed me the ability to obtain the necessary skills and methods to aid in the therapeutic process, but they have also allowed me the ability to create my first official business, “Therapy-ish Life,” where I can now use the knowledge and resources acquired over the years to continue empowering and transforming the lives of individuals struggling with daily challenges related to mental illness (i.e., depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance abuse disorders and addictions, etc.).
As a result, this website now serves as the cornerstone of Therapy-ish Life, where information and resources on mental health and substance abuse awareness and education can now be made readily available and affordable to individuals and families everywhere. No matter the individual’s race, gender, creed, or socioeconomic status, everyone has a fighting chance to win the war against mental illness and substance abuse. In essence, this website not only provides effective skills and interventions to promote awareness and stability, but it also provides resources to help empower individuals to seek treatment when needed. This way, as society continues to change and evolve over time, we can also learn to denounce the stigma and miseducation of “mental illness” and “addiction” while also finding ways to better understand, uplift, and inspire generations of men, women, and children suffering in silence.
